HISTORY

Renegade Motion Picture Corporation is a company that evolved out the work of the British film company Triple Action Films (founded 1975) who were responsible for films such as "King Lear", "St. Joan" and "Faust".  When Steven Rumbelow moved to Canada and later formed an association with Frank Capra Jr. they decided to create a North American company based in Toronto in 1991.  This became Renegade Motion Picture Corporation and Mr. Rumbelow vertically intigrated Triple Action Films into Renegade.

WORKSHOPS

EDGE OF FRAME

There have been 24 Canadian workshops held so far in the OVER THE EDGE / EDGE OF FRAME series. The workshops have been designed to offer actors a number of effective tools to allow them to deliver maximum results within what is often a professionally demanding and inflexible working environment.

Steven Rumbelow noted an uneven quality to some Toronto actors when directing in television and features here. A perplexing mix of eyebrow, accent, musical or get-the-whole-reel-into-one-line actors. He started this workshop series to get his actors onto one stylistic page. It was so effective that it was eventually opened to the acting community at large.

Since starting the workshop series it has been attended almost exclusively by invitation only and mostly by actors who have been referred by Casting Agents, Directors or other Actors. Acting Agencies have sponsored the workshop for their client base and Edge of Frame has been approved and sponsored by ACTRA in the past.

The workshop program has also been a valuable casting resource for Renegade and an effective vehicle for finding new talent..

Edge of Frame in a very practical way deals with emphasis of sophistication, maturity, subtlety and consistency on camera: focusing on styles evolved from Stella  Adler and The Actors Studio. It makes a study of styles of suspension used by actors like Chris Walken, Al Pacino and Robert De Nero as well as the use of character development taken from observation.

There are three workshop levels: Two-day Entry Level Workshop, the Two-day Advanced Level Workshop and the three-day Master Class (which is by invitation only).

Edge Of Frame: A Screen Actors Workshop
Entry Level

  • Personal development

Workshop cost: $300.00

Edge Of Frame: A Screen Actors Workshop
Advanced Level

The Advanced Level class is designed for actors with experience (over five professional acting screen credits). This two day workshop affords actors the opportunity to become acquainted with techniques gained normally from a great deal of field experience and is designed to take experienced actors a step further into polished performance whilst adding a number of tools to be used in a professional field that is becoming more and more results oriented.

What This two day Workshop will cover:

  • The immergence of the internet in casting
  • Audition Techniques
  • Common mistakes that betray inexperience
  • Common elements that expose sophistication and experience
  • Acting techniques and tools that produce immediate results
